Breastfeeding Support

Did you know that...

  • The UK has some of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world.

  • 80% of women stop breastfeeding before they want to.

  • One reason for this is the lack of breastfeeding support available.

  • Nearly half of all breastfeeding support services have been cut in the UK in the last 2 years.[1]

Breastfeeding education and support are key to having successful and positive breastfeeding journeys.

Why I want to help?

Breastfeeding is a personal and unique journey for every mother and baby. You may face breastfeeding challenges along your journey as this is a time when new mothers feel vulnerable and are getting to grips to life with a newborn. This is why I am passionate about providing support to new and expectant mothers who want to breastfeed. I am on a mission to empower more women to breastfeed. I want to support more women to have successful breastfeeding journeys and I want to educate more women with good quality evidence-based information about breastfeeding. I want women to have calm and connected breastfeeding experiences which can be achieved through mindful breastfeeding.

Why it is important?

  • I believe all women should have access to breastfeeding support

  • There are so many known benefits to breastfeeding for both the mother and baby

  • Breastfeeding reduces lots of health risks for both the mother and baby

  • Breastfeeding improves a child's immune system and their chance of survival

  • Breastfeeding reduces the risk of ovarian and breast cancer for the mother

  • Breast milk provides all of the nutrition that a baby needs for the first 6 months

  • Research shows that illnesses linked to formula feeding cost the NHS £48 million every year, and this  cost could be reduced by breastfeeding.[2]

  • Breastfeeding supports attachment between mother and baby

  • Breastfeeding is free and it's always readily available so can be more convenient for mother and baby

  • And it can be calming and relaxing for both mother and baby so supports their mental health.
